In 2024, the FairField Center, formerly Community Mediation Center, celebrates 42 years of community and family services to the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County communities. The Center was the first of its kind in Virginia and continues to contribute to the community’s spirit of collaboration and engagement.

We are proud to be the community’s primary Mediation and Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice service center.

We partner with Virginia’s Family and Civil Courts to offer mediation services to individuals, families, and businesses going through stressful situations and facing difficult financial needs.

We organize the Harrisonburg International Festival showcasing the wonderful spectrum of people in our community.

The Center provides training for Virginia Mediator certification. Many mediators then volunteer their time and efforts to help people engage in difficult conversations to resolve their concerns without bearing a high financial cost to their families and businesses.

Since 2009, the FairField Mediation and Conflict Resolution Services Center has opened more than 10,200 cases and has supported more than 22,500 clients with reduced- or no-cost services to families, individuals, and businesses seeking a workable plan to navigate challenging situations and conflict.

We have partnered with our local colleges and universities to provide free internships to more than 250 students majoring in social work, psychology, justice studies, communications, and business.
