Empowering Mediators: Mentorship Training for Guiding Emerging Professionals in Virginia

Apply your mediation experience to guide and mentor emerging mediators in the field! Gain insights into pre-mediation planning and post-mediation feedback techniques, along with the expectations for completing the Mentee Evaluation form. Completion of the workshop is mandatory for mediators aspiring to attain certification as mentors.

*This course is certified by the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia. However, please note that mere attendance at this training does not guarantee successful completion of the course for mediation certification purposes. Prerequisites

Certification requirements for mediator mentor status in court levels

You must be a certified mediator in the court levels you are seeking mentor status. For all information see the VA Courts Website

Mode: Interactive, Synchronous Zoom Meeting

Requirements:  In order to participate in this online class you must have a computer with a camera and microphone as well as a strong, secure internet connection.

If you miss any portion of this training, the trainer may not be able to provide you with a completion certificate. Any missed time must be approved by the FairField Center. If the time missed can be made up outside of class time, there will be a $75 charge per hour fee for one on one instructor time.

Trainer(s): Shannon Sneary Alabanza

Shannon Sneary Alabanza is a skilled conflict engagement practitioner and premier trainer. She brings over 25 years of experience in conflict intervention and holds a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and ResolutionHer greatest interests focus on blending trauma informed practices with reflective and dynamic services and training. 

Shannon has trained individuals and groups in communication and conflict resolution skills through multiple workshops, trainings, and presentations. In addition to being the Director of Training Programs at Fairfield Center, Shannon is an adjunct professor in both graduate and undergraduate classes in the study of negotiation, mediation, and facilitation.

*payment is due at the time of registration.

**refunds minus 10% admin fee may be issued if cancellation is made at least 7 days prior to the training start date.

***no refund will be issued when cancellation is made within 7 days of the training start date, but the registration fee can be applied to a future training taken within 12 months.
